Hello World!

Here it is, SideLab's first blog post!

It's been our mission to follow our passion, product development. From the time we've started to learn code, to the last pull request and app delivery, we've loved building great software and solving complex problems.

But an even greater vision was to do it ourselves. No middle man between us and our client. No organization or development shop that doesn't align with our values of continuous delivery, respect and dignity, and code you'd be proud to show to your mother.

It's with that purpose that we started SideLabs.io. An Apple focused, product development firm dedicated to building quality applications while upholding our values.

Those values are:

Continuous Delivery. Continuous Improvement

The world is evolving at an alarming quick rate. So should your products. Build fast, measure quickly, learn what works, and deploy often. These are the values we embrace when building software. A continuous delivery model helps us help our clients by working on the most high value software at all times, and always be shipping new features, new code, to production.

Continuous improvement follows the continuous delivery model. To build, measure, learn and deploy while improving code, user experience, and business outcomes. But continuous improvement is something we hold ourselves to as well. It's a philosophy we choose to embrace at SideLabs; that we as people, will continuously improve our technical skills, our managerial skills, and our understanding of the world. We will wake up everyday, and strive to be the best versions of ourselves. Because a person is more than the skill set they bring, it is who they are, and what they strive for in this world, that makes them a better developer, team player, leader and friend.

Respect and Dignity

What seems like a natural given is something we - in all of our years of working in software, and services - have come to find is taken for granted. We value the respect and dignity of the workplace, of our employees, our clients, and friends. We are committed to providing an environment where deadlines are not a burden, but a challenge, and overtime is a definition of the past. As developers ourselves, we know the pressures of shipping (exceptional) code on time - but we also know that SideLabs is nothing without the people that help fuel it. The passion, dedication, and service provided by our team is what fuels us to provide a fair and equitable work-life balance, respect and dignity in a challenging environment.

Code That Would Make Your Mother Proud

Now I hope you’re laughing at that headline, but that is what we think about when we deliver our work. Are you proud of the work you have produced? This is a standard we hold top-down and is a great gut check! Ownership of your abilities, of your work, is one of the greatest sense of pride and accomplishments - and something we strive for in every aspect of our business from Marketing to Delivery. Make your mother proud fellow SideLabers!

Ultimately, we hope that SideLabs will be a place of new ideas, new adventures, and new challenges while making our people proud of the company they work for and the work that they do. We know that if we strive day in and day out to project these values in ourselves, that our team will be inspired as well.

We’re excited to start this new chapter in our lives. The journey maybe a tough one, the road ahead maybe long. But we are ready. We are passionate, and damn straight, we are good ;)

Until next time,
